If you don’t have a blackberry or iphone and can’t use the twitter apps you can still update your twitter status using your phone. Please be aware that standard text message charges apply to your phone depending on what kind of carrier plan you have.
Set up your Twitter account on your phone
- Log into your twitter account. On the top right corner click on the settings tab.
- Click on the Devices tab
- Set up your cell phone number and choose if you want to have device updates on or off. What this means is that you can choose specific people to follow their updates on your phone.
- Once your phone number has been set up there is a message with a code, usually this code starts with 40**something something… and it says “Send updates to 404**)
- Write down this number, and save it on your phone. Name: Twitter phone number: 404**
- DONE! test it out! write a text message from your phone and send it to your Twitter contact! whalah! it should work!
Send Direct Messages to other members
to send a direct message from your phone put the letter “d” and a space
before the twitter profile name of the person you want to send the
message to.
Send a Reply to other members
to reply to someone from your phone just put the “@” before the twitter profile of the person you want to reply to.

Twitter currently doesn’t support sending pictures from a text message but there is an app that works together with your twitter account called Twitpic. It basically works the same, set up your account, set up your cell phone and get the code were you need to send the updates. Then you can send all your pics updates to your twitter friends.
