Website traffic tip #7 — Commenting on related blogs and forums

by admin on April 2, 2009

Another great way to bring some free traffic to your blog or website is
by participating in the online community. How do you do that? well, let
me explain. The concept behind its is to find blogs and comment on
those posts.

A lot of blogs allows you to leave comments and
on some you are also allowed to leave your website as your signature.
Do not leave comments like “Johnny was here! here’s my site”  When you
comment on these blogs  you want to actually give useful information to
other readers. You want to be a person that actually brings some value
to the web.

What types of blogs should you choose? You
want choose blogs that are related to your theme. What is your nitch
market? You want to show that you know what you are talking about and
be someone in the industry that people can come for advice when they
have a question about a product or service related to that. What you
are doing, is creating credibility and make people want to visit your
site.

How to find blogs in your nitch? I’m sure there
are tons of ways to do this, but I’m going to share with you the 3
easiest ones and the ones that I personally use the most.

1. Google Blog  Search
On
the search box type your keyword. Lets say that you create Hard Drive
Backup Software, well, what you do is type in “Back up Software”.
Before clicking search, look at the top left of the page and you can
see that Google has a few links. You can choose, Map, Images, Blogs,
News. Click on the “Blogs” link and then click search. Google will
bring out a list of blogs that have that keywords in them, some will be
relevant to your business, some will not let you comment. So go through
the list and pick the ones that work for you. Read them and leave your
comment signing your name and posting your website or blog you want
people to visit as a signature.

2. Google Search
On the Google search bar, type in your keyword followed by the word
“FORUM” and Google will show you a list of forums that talk about that
keyword. Go through the list and do the same as you did for the blogs,
making sure you leave your signature and website for readers to visit.

3. Technorati Search

Technorati is the main directory or main search engine for blogs. On
the search box, type in your keyword and technorati will show you a
list of blogs that mention your keyword. Read them and comment on each one.

By commenting on other blogs and forums you are not only creating valuable content but you are creating links to your site from high ranking websites. One-way inbound links can help you when it comes to ranking in Google. So remember these few things:

  1. Find Blogs and Forums on your market
  2. Write valuable comments
  3. Sign with your name and website

Hey Sweetheart,

This is so cute. It’s a very old, common, tip but it’s good you share it because there’s new people coming around all the time.

Take a look at the article to which I linked above and you’ll see just one of the ways I delve more deeply into this. I hope it helps.

Best wishes,
Sam Freedom
