There are a few ways you can increase traffic to your site and it doesn’t involve paying Google or Yahoo for PPC (Pay Per Click). This methods are free. When creating a website you have to make sure the structure of your website is set up correctly so the search engine robots can find all the information they need when crawling your site.
Search Engine Sites like Google, Yahoo, Live, AOL, etc… can bring tons of good traffic to your site, but in order for this to happen your site has to be “spider-friendly”. A spider is a script (like a messenger) the search engines send to your site and collects information about your code, content, site popularity, etc. When the messenger or script goes back to the search engines with all the information it collects, it will determine what your page rank is for specific keywords or key-phrases.
TIP#2 HTML — Best Choice for Coding a website
Although Flash and Javascript sites make your website look cool with all the graphics and animations, is not the best robot friendly option. Flash and Java have very fancy language in its coding that spiders can’t ready. When a spider gets to your site and can’t read its content because its in a language he can’t speak very well, it gives up and goes to the next site, skipping all your content and good information you have to offer to the www.

Tip#3 Frames – Bad Bad Bad
Sometime websites have frames designed and all content goes inside that frame. This looks good on the outside but the spiders cannot read the content that is inside these frames. So if you decide to use them, you are harming your rankings and the opportunity for search engines to find your valuable content.
Tip#4 Keywords as Hyper links
(also applicable to blogs)
Search Engines like when you link from withing your content. If you want to refer people to another part of your site or an out side website, use words that describe your page –keywords– as the hyper link. Never never never use “click here” this is the biggest mistake people make and it just means that they are wasting a good opportunity to use and emphasize your keywords.
Tip#5 Use Keywords as Image Names
(also applicable to blogs)
And for my last useful tip today, when you add images to your website make sure this images have your focus keyword as the image name. And if you open the properties of your image, you can see that you can add description and other information. Using keywords as the name and alt-tag (the description) of your images will give you extra exposure when people search for those keywords. Have you ever made a search on Google and clicked the images tab? the images that show are the ones that have that keyword as the name of the image and images that have that in the Alt-tag.
So put this on your SEO check list and start driving free traffic to your site. If you have any other good tips or would like to comment about this post, please do so! we love comments! Until next time — see ya!
